The Big BaNES 100k is a community initiative between local charities and organisations that champion the benefits of walking, getting outside and exploring new places — including Bath 5k Map, Mentoring Plus, Off the Record, Walk Bath.
Whether you prefer long weekend walks, short daily strolls, morning runs or evening bike rides, this challenge is designed to be flexible. Individuals, families and teams of colleagues can all take part and cover the 100km any way they like.
Every penny raised helps protect lifeline services for children and young people across Bath and North East Somerset who are facing tough challenges.

100km sounds like a lot — it really isn't when you break it down. Here's how to take part.
Register individually or as a team using the fundraising page. It's free to take part and there's no minimum fundraising target.
Your target is 100km between May and September. That's roughly 5km (3 miles) a week — one lunchtime walk or a family stroll.
Walk, jog, cycle, swim or scoot. Share the distance as a team. Use the Bath 5k Map for route inspiration or join a guided walk.
Ask friends, family and colleagues to sponsor you. Share your progress on social using #BigBaNES100k. Every pound helps.
Know you've made a real difference to young lives — and watch out for some brilliant end-of-summer celebrations.
The first 20 people to sign up to start fundraising will receive a Bath 5k Map goodie bag worth over £45. Sign up early to be in with a chance!
Funds raised through the Big BaNES 100k go directly to two vital local youth mental health charities. Together they support thousands of young people aged 5–25 across our community.
Provides mentoring, group support and opportunities to young people facing difficult challenges. Their programmes help young people feel safe, heard and hopeful about their future.

The challenge is open to all ages and abilities — from solo adventurers and families to groups of friends and teams of colleagues.

We're hosting free, friendly 5k group sunset walks in and around Bath that feature as part of the Bath 5k Map collection — we'd love for you to join us. We'll be counting up the number of people who walk with us and aiming to collectively log a minimum of 100km through these shared experiences. So whether you come to one or all three – every step counts!
These walks are open to all: come along for the company, add the distance to your own 100k challenge, or simply enjoy an evening outdoors for a great cause.

A rambling and undulating walk climbing up from Batheaston to the tracks, trails and open meadow at Banner Down Common.
Wednesday 22 July · Gather at 5:45pm, walk at 6pm
Join Garry Pratt – a walking leader, creativity coach, facilitator, and author of The Creativity Factor. Garry helps people go outside to unlock fresh thinking, reset old patterns, and find new ways forward. This is a chance to step outside, slow down, and reconnect. Along the way we'll mix in some light creative prompts, a bit of resetting, and space for good conversation with like-minded people.

A pretty walk starting at the English Heritage remains of Farleigh Hungerford Castle, passing through a beautiful valley along the river Frome to Iford Manor Gardens, and back over fields down to the river at Stowford Manor. A rewarding river swim at the end for those who fancy a dip!
Tuesday 15 September · Gather at 5:45pm, walk at 6pm
This pleasant walk leads you across fields into Monkton Combe Valley, through the charming village, and back up to rejoin the Skyline walk.
